有媽媽朋友問，可以怎樣提升孩子的英語能力。今天和大家分享其中一個秘訣，就是讓孩子學習 sight words。

容許我在此先戴一戴頭盔，今天的分享可能會有一點悶，但因為我對於如何提升小朋友的英語能力有著非常濃厚的興趣，所以以下會忍不住滔滔不絶的分享。（可能遲些會忍唔住要開個zoom 同大家分享🙈）

首先，何謂Sight words ？它主要包含兩種字：

（1） High frequency words：經常出現於文章或書的英文字，例如yes、first 、has

（2）Phonetically irregular words：並不依從拼音規則的英文是，例如 who 、one 、two

教導孩子sight words 能大大提升他們的英語閱讀的能力（Ehri, 2014)，繼而提升閱讀理解的能力。不過其實不同的學者，對於哪些英文字才算是sight words並未有一致的共識，因而令這世界出現了不同的 sight word lists。

其中一個歷史較悠久但到現在還是十分受老師歡迎的，便是由 Edward Dolch 於1936年提出的 Dolch Sight Words，當中包含了220個常見的英文字。如果你的孩子是幼稚園或初小的學生，這個 sight word list 非常值得參考。於以下連結便可看到所有的Dolch Sight Words: http://www.dolchword.net/dolch-word-list-frequency-grade.html

要讓孩子熟習sight words，最基本的過程就是讓他多讀、多聽、多寫那些字。在此和大家分享以下，我用來教授孩子們、自製的sight words 工作紙 。另外我把工作紙印出來後加上了自製的封面，並把紙釘起來成為一本小冊子方便使用。
